From a quick match to a club session
Keep score for singles and doubles, or play Americano with rotating opponents and partners. Save results, follow individual standings and manage your players in a private club.
Large score cards work on iPhone and iPad. Tap to add a point, or briefly hold a card to select or correct a score. Choose the first server and receiver or use the automatic draw. The scoreboard follows service order and changes sides between games, and at five points in the deciding game in the 11-point format.
A dedicated TV scoreboard shows up to four ongoing club matches at a time and rotates when more are running. It includes table numbers, standings, a club banner and winner celebrations. Americano celebrates the individual winners after the session.
Coming in version 1.0.1
This update is being prepared for release. The features below are available in the latest test version.
- A cleaner match view, with the league explanation kept in league settings.
- Choose the share of club tournaments counted in the combined league.
- TV standings show five places at a time and change pages every ten seconds, so every player appears.
- Swap the left and right sides on the TV scoreboard when the scorer faces the opposite direction.
- Completed sessions are numbered by date and format, for example Americano 1 and Americano 2.
- Tap a score card to add a point. Use the minus button to subtract, or hold a card to correct the score.
Existing match results are preserved. League points are calculated from saved results.
TV setup, step by step
- Open the same club on the scoring devices and the device that will drive the TV scoreboard.
- Connect the display device to the TV using a compatible display connection, such as AirPlay or a cable, and open the TV scoreboard in the app.
- Start matches on the scoring devices and select the correct tables. The display device receives the club's ongoing matches through iCloud.
- Keep the display device active and all devices online. Up to four matches appear at once; larger groups rotate.
- In 1.0.1, swap left and right under Club → TV settings on the display device. This changes presentation, not who owns the points.
If results are missing, check that all devices use the same club, are signed in to iCloud and have an internet connection. Personal settings on another device do not change the TV device's display.
How the combined league works
The club owner chooses the share under Club → League settings. The default is 60 percent. After 20 completed tournaments, each player's best 12 results count. The number is rounded up, starting with the first tournament. If you have fewer results than the number counted, missing results score zero.
A tournament placing awards between 0 and 100 league points: 100 for the winner, zero for last place, and evenly spaced points in between. Tied places receive the same points. Both partners in doubles receive the same league points.
Match wins and group tie-break rules determine singles and doubles placings. Americano uses individual points including rest compensation, followed by wins. Equal combined league points share a place. Displayed wins refer to the tournaments counted.
Per format shows the original points for that format. The percentage changes which results count in the league, not saved matches. Changing the setting recalculates the entire season's league standings.
Questions and answers (FAQ)
This FAQ describes the upcoming update. Some options are not yet available in the App Store version.
How do I get started?
Sign in to iCloud in your device settings, open the app and enter a display name. Create a club with a club name and owner email, or accept an iCloud invitation. On Play, add or select players, choose a format and table, and start scoring. When you reopen the app, it returns to Play in your saved club after the launch screen.
How do I score and correct points?
Tap a team’s large score card to add one point. Use the minus button to subtract. Briefly hold the card to select or correct a number directly. In Americano, choosing a finished score adjusts the opponent’s score to the selected total. Normal taps count one point at a time.
What are the singles and doubles rules?
Games to 11, win by two. Group standings use match points and head-to-head tiebreaks.
Recreational format to 21, win by two. This is not the ITTF game format.
With automatic draw enabled, the app picks the first server and, in doubles, the first receiver. Otherwise, choose them on the scoreboard before the match.
How does Americano scoring work?
Teams change between matches. Both players receive the full team score. The highest individual total wins.
Total = played points + compensation. Players with fewer matches get half the match’s total points, rounded down, per match fewer. Compensation is recalculated as results are recorded.
How are league points calculated?
Choose 10–100% in steps of 10. The default is 60%. At 100%, all your tournament results in the current season count. At 60%, after 20 completed club tournaments, your best 12 count. The number is rounded up; missing results score 0. How results become league points: Americano: total points including rest compensation determine placement. Match wins break ties. Singles and doubles: a win awards 2 match points and a loss 1 in the tournament table. Ties use head-to-head match points, then set and ball ratios. Final placement awards 0–100 league points: the winner gets 100, last place 0, and others are evenly spaced between. Tied places receive equal points. Both doubles partners receive the same league points. The league adds league points from the counted results, not ball points across formats. Displayed wins are match wins from counted tournaments; they do not add a separate league bonus. Equal league points share a place. All matches and original points are saved regardless of percentage and can be viewed per format. Changing this setting recalculates the current season; saved season archives are unaffected.
Can several matches run at once?
Yes. Select a table for each session. All players included in an active session are reserved, including players resting in an Americano round. An unfinished session with no activity for more than an hour is automatically removed and its players become available again. Internet access is needed to keep devices in sync.
How do I show matches on TV?
Open the same club on the device showing the TV scoreboard and on the scoring devices. Connect the display device to the TV using AirPlay or a compatible cable. Open the TV scoreboard under Club → TV settings. Keep the display device active and the devices connected to the internet. Up to four matches appear at once; additional matches rotate in groups.
Applies to the TV scoreboard on this device. Names, points and games swap sides. Service order, automatic end changes and saved results stay intact.
League standings and all placings from the latest session show five players at a time and change pages every ten seconds. If results are missing, check that all devices use the same club, are signed in to iCloud and have an internet connection. Personal settings on another device do not change the TV device’s display.
How do I share a club?
The owner opens Club → Manage access and invites one person at a time. New invitations grant viewing access. Send the private iCloud link to the person, who needs Pingisligan and accepts it on their device using the invited iCloud account. Simply saving a player’s email sends nothing. Change or remove a person’s access under Manage access with owner mode active.
How do invitations and permissions work?
The owner manages access under Club → Manage access. Administrators can manage matches and correct player names. Viewers can follow results. Private contacts and protected club actions require owner mode.
Saving an email sends no invitation. iCloud may hide contact details, so a contact may already have access through another account. Invitations grant viewing access; existing permissions are unchanged.
What is owner mode?
Only the club owner can activate owner mode using Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode. It unlocks private contacts, permission changes and protected club actions. It locks when you leave the app or after five minutes. Deletion also requires confirmation.
How do I rename or delete a club?
The owner renames the club under Club → Rename club with owner mode active. Delete club appears under Owner mode when unlocked. Deletion requires an extra confirmation and typing the club name. It affects every participant. Save a club file first if you want to keep a copy. To start a new season, use Close season, which archives the results.
Which email should the club owner enter?
Enter an address where you can receive email. It is used for result emails and unsubscribe requests. You can change it under Manage access. It does not need to match your iCloud account.
Used for result emails and unsubscribe requests. Only the club owner can view and change the address in owner mode. Changing it does not transfer the club or change anyone’s permissions.
How do I send results?
The club owner opens Club → Send results with owner mode active. Choose the latest competition, a date or the current season. Save changes to the recipient list and preview the report before sending.
A prepared email opens in the app. Check the sender and confirm with Send. Recipients are Bcc.
The owner’s email account must be configured in Apple Mail on this device to send.
Choose the same sender account in Mail. Unsubscribe opens an email to this address. When it arrives, disable the recipient below.
The list includes approved players and invitees whose addresses iCloud provides. Add missing member addresses here. Disabled recipients remain members but receive no result emails.
Result emails show standings, points and wins for each selected tournament. Tournaments are numbered by format and date, such as Americano 1 and Americano 2. Current-season league standings appear separately with the club’s percentage and number of counting results. The calendar selection filters tournament results and match statistics; the league covers the entire current season. The preview and email use the same tables.
How do I unsubscribe from result emails?
Use the unsubscribe link in a result email to send a request to the club owner. The owner then disables your address manually. Your membership and match results remain.
How do I save and close a season?
Matches, player names, league setting and final standings are saved under Previous seasons. A new table starts only after iCloud confirms the archive. Players are kept. Finish any active games first.
What does a club file contain?
The file contains the club name, players, saved matches with game scores, league percentage, sponsor text and feed URLs stored on this device. Saved seasons and final standings are also included.
Email addresses and phone numbers are included. The file is not encrypted. Store and share it carefully.
Live matches, images, mailing preferences and iCloud permissions are not included.
Import always creates a new club in this app’s iCloud environment. Existing clubs are unchanged. Invite members again after importing.
Only the club owner with owner mode active can save the club file.
How do I hand over a club?
The recipient accepts and receives a new club copy in their own iCloud, including contact details and saved seasons. The app verifies the copy before confirming the handover. The original club is never deleted automatically. Participants need invitations to the new club.
This is a snapshot taken when the invitation is created. Later changes do not sync between the clubs. Finish active games before handing over.
Live matches, images, mailing preferences and iCloud permissions are not included.
How do I delete my information?
Open Account and privacy → Delete my app data. The overview lists your own clubs that will be deleted and shared clubs you will leave, regardless of the currently open club. You can first save a club file or hand over a club. If there is no recipient, you can delete without handing over after device authentication and final confirmation. Information entered by other club owners must be handled by them. Your Apple account is not deleted. Read the privacy policy for details.
Which languages are supported?
English, Swedish, German, Danish, Norwegian Bokmål and Finnish. The app follows your device’s language preferences.
How do I contact support?
Email magztar@icloud.com. Describe what happened and include your app version, iPhone or iPad model, and iOS version if possible. Never send passwords or sign-in codes.
Americano and the recreational 21-point format are alternatives to standard table tennis scoring. No ITTF certification or affiliation is claimed.
